Prix pour les jeunes talents de la recherche en design EPFL-ECAL Lab: Danpeng Cai

StegaMatter transforms product design into a medium for trust and traceability. By leveraging steganographic principles, StegaMatter embed essential information directly into tangible objects, preserving their aesthetic and functional qualities. Their approach makes traceability a natural part of the product lifecycle, not an afterthought, addressing the escalating demands for security, digitalization, and sustainability, without compromising design.

A message from Danpeng:

« Dear Members of the Sylvie Rusconi Foundation, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to apply for your support in developing my project, StegaMatter. Building on my Masters studies at ECAL, this project combines design and technology to address challenges of counterfeiting, traceability and sustainability. It aims to embed trust directly into the surface of products without compromising their aesthetics – a concept that has already been recognised with awards such as the Nestlé Prize.

At this early stage, my focus is on refining the core algorithm, developing prototypes and initiating intellectual property protection. These steps are critical to moving the project forward and laying the groundwork for future growth and collaboration. While I understand that resources are limited, any financial support from the Foundation, even a small amount, would be invaluable in helping me achieve these goals and move the project forward.

Joining the Sylvie Rusconi Foundation network is an incredible honour and I am inspired by its mission to support young professionals and innovative ideas. I look forward to contributing to this vibrant community as I work to develop StegaMatter into a meaningful and impactful project. »
